From this album, an instant sense of strength can easily be felt from the first note to the last. It seems as though Hasina is not afraid to sound like herself. We have too many artists sounding so much alike; as if they are scared to just "step out". Facing The Night is a true statement of individuality and that's exactly the definition of what art is supposed to be. From track one, you know she is and really lives her lyrics. A hard-hitting attitude about being fed-up, with a hint of pain is most apparent in "Take It", the albums first track. Carried by distinct rock guitar riffs and heavy pulsing bass, Hasina is somehow able to lay interesting, yet beautiful harmonies across the chorus which simply say, "take it away". The song's hypnotizing bridge ties the whole piece together professing a message of "no more" with an undeniable woman's touch. "Invisible", a huge switch from the track it follows, is arguably the most beautiful composition on this album. The way it continues to live in your ear long after the song has ended is nothing short of magical. Hasina really shows off her range in this number. The colors and note selection here are something to reckon with. Contrary to the title, "Happy" is clearly about ones self examination and realization. With an energetic track and clever wording, this clean recording leaves you in a whirlwind of a capella vocals for its last chorus. The bridge plays on this back and forth/call and response feel, giving the listener a real sense of how the brain processes actual thought. All the elements are displayed in "Honey". From catchy lyrics to a weaved dance of harmonies, this song hits hard. As a subtle temptress, Hasina calls out for an extreme fantasy episode. Very light, but rich vocals serenade while the drums demand your neck to snap. As she begins to fade you instinctively want more. This is definitely a hot one. When "Just" sounds, you can't help but dance. It's about blatant sexiness and teasing. With mention of hips, lips, and rear, you just want to get closer. A dance track with rock guitar is basically unheard of in today's music, but again Hasina finds away to make it work. In one word, this track is infectious. She changes pace once more with "Raindrops". The short re-verb on the vocal is a perfect match, bringing you just a little bit deeper into Hasina's world. The instruments really work together to create their own sonic multiverse. The thunder and lightening blended in make it even more real. If you close your eyes... you're there. If you haven't had enough, Hasina asks,"Are You Ready"? Starting out with a live crowd intro totally sets the listener up for the presence she brings on this one. A hip-hip influenced track with brilliant chord changes for this vocalist is a great choice as a final song. Half-timing it in the bridge is a big surprise but works phenomenally for Hasina who effortlessly changes with the feel. So believable... so necessary... so Hasina. For all of those who are looking for something real and true, Hasina's-Facing The Night is just that and more. This album announces the arrival of a successful artist here to stay.

11.01.06 | Hasina Joins Concerts for Change in Campaign to Save Darfur
Darfur has been embroiled in a deadly conflict for over three years. At least 400,000 people have been killed; more than 2 million innocent civilians have been forced to flee their homes and now live in displaced-persons camps in Sudan or in refugee camps in neighboring Chad; and more than 3.5 million men, women, and children are completely reliant on international aid for survival.
It is an overwhelming crisis but everyone can take part in raising awareness and funds tobring aid and government involvment in Darfur. Hasina has joined a group of artists to tour the tri-state to use their talents to raise awareness for the cause.

The Save Darfur Coalition raises public awareness about the ongoing genocide in Darfur and mobilizes a unified response to the atrocities that threaten the lives of people throughout the Darfur region.
